New Year's decoration Takara Musubi / White rice

These shimenawa are made by Kamiko Sei in Seiyo City, a rice-growing area of ​​Ehime Prefecture, from pesticide-free rice.
All processes, from planting to harvesting, drying and twisting, are done by hand.
The abundant ears of rice represent the hope for a fruitful year.
The knot in the center is a decorative craft called "Takara Musubi" that Kamiko himself invented, inspired by the decorations on portable shrines.
The Takara Musubi motif, which is said to have originated from the decorative knot used to wrap treasures, symbolizes infinity and is an auspicious motif that represents eternal prosperity, longevity, and happiness.
