Call for Workshop Participants: Sekimori Stone Crafting

A Sekimori-Stone is a boundary marker in Japanese gardens.

It is the grace of Japanese culture in which just a single stone conveys a subtle message; don’t enter the further zone.

In this workshop, you will create your own unique Sekimori-Stone.
You will braid rush grass and tie it around a palm-sized stone (approx. 10 cm) to decorate it.

We are pleased to welcome Mrs.Hinoe as our instructor, who creates straw ornaments using rice-straw grown by her own hands.

We warmly look forward to your participation.

Exhibition Announcement

In the early spring of 2026, we welcomed Makiko Asai for artist-in-residence program at our atelier.

We were given a rare glimpse into the unfolding of her work—the process to gather   carefully fragments of materials, sensations, and thoughts encountered in this place, and sublimate them into pottery.

The process resembled a garden: a naturally evolving space in a constant state of becoming.

Amidst the advance of AI, the significance of works that unleash raw sensibility—like spontaneous drawings—is growing ever greater.

We would be delighted if you could experience this alongside the garden at Landscape.
