Niwa of Seibou

This residence has been owned by the client who loves classical music. She told me a monastery concept, and after taking her favor and idea into account an idyllic landscape image came into my mind.
To secure the privacy without spoiling the sight’s affinity with residents, we erected 3.5 meters high walls among trees as parts of the scenery. Once stepping into the premises, you see an ambulatory path runs up to the house. A cloister was originally considered to be a meditation place. So you will get calmer and calmer in walking this path.
This location has both the mountain view on the west and the marine view on the southeast, so we luxuriously made the most of it. The contrast between the mildly undulating mound and plants generates a stark change of realms from Yin to Yang, or rather from shade to light. From a room, you will see thick trunks of large trees in the foreground, a mixed thicket plotting the boundary in the middle distance and Osaka Bay in the background.
This home garden space may contain faraway city of Osaka and its bay. I thought so while playing with earth and seeing the ever-changing scape below my eyes.
