Niwa of Shouei

When we landscaped this garden at the end of Showa-era, it was once a lawn where children played around. As trees grew and the shady area stretched, it gradually turned into a moss-covered garden.

While the garden has changed in step with the growth of residents, the client has accepted it with pleasure. In laying it out we transplanted trees and scenic stones cherished by each generation from the former residence into this garden.
These days everyone praises novel things and it gets more and more difficult to nurture a culture with patience. But we tried to take care of past memories and affections to utilize them in the present way. Thus ancestral spirits has come down from generation to generation.
The client’s children matured and have come to love the garden. I think this garden symbolizes their hearts.
