Works

Niwa of Omachi

I met the client through the introduction of the American travelers I had encountered on a trip to visit Geoffrey Bawa’s work. Returning home and visiting the project area for the first time, I felt this place was a gift from Bawa. Although it was a five minute walk from the station, forest stretches right next to the backyard area. Bawas works present scenery into which landscape, rooted in climate and culture, and architecture are not separated but merged. I expected that it would be possible to produce such a place at this site, so I took care to bring the surroundings into the garden. A garden stands for its owners personality. The clients sentiment that he would love the garden and to the utmost enjoy it was conveyed to us. Of course it matters what garden we will produce, but it may be the most precious to come upon such client as him and share feelings.
