Glass Barrier Stone / Kudzu
Glass Barrier Stone / Kudzu
<Torimoto Glass Shop/Glass Barrier Stone>
This is a Sekimori stone that allows you to feel the softness and temperature of glass before it hardens.
The materials used for the knots are collected from nature close to the artist, and the materials and knots chosen to match the glass give the piece an indescribable sense of attachment.
What is Sekimori Stone?
These are small stones placed as stepping stones in tea gardens or gardens, or at crossroads in enjo-dan (traditional Japanese steps), tied in a cross shape with bracken or palm rope.
In the tea ceremony, when this stone is placed, it means that "please refrain from entering beyond this point."
I feel that it is very Japanese to create ambiguous boundaries not through direct words, but through presence.
